Employer Services

Employment Agreements

We can visit you in your factory or office and quickly draft an employment agreement for a competitive hourly rate for all sorts of staff, including independent contractors.

90 day trial period contracts still offer significant protection and we can assist you with these. A properly drafted agreement can save you lots of money by avoiding extremely expensive litigation. If you lose a case in the Employment Relations Authority you can be looking at awards to an employee in excess of $100,000. If you draft an employment agreement with common sense clauses covering matters such as job duties, job hours, place of work, you can avoid legal action occurring.

Restructuring and Redundancy Issues

Unfortunately the business world - with globalisation and busy politicians - is fast moving and you may have to change your business plan and reduce staff or restructure at any time. In New Zealand, restructuring and redundancy law is relatively complex requiring consultation and other requirements to break or alter employment agreements.

With our experienced and competent legal advice, you can of course restructure and reduce business costs. If this is done properly you can avoid subsequent expensive and emotionally draining lawsuits.

Disciplinary Meetings

The law as it stands requires an employer to advise an employee in advance of all disciplinary meetings and we can advise you about how to organise such a meeting. We also have considerable experience in; attending such meetings; issuing warnings and terminating staff  if required.

Personal Grievances

If you are faced with such a claim, we can prepare a response letter, attend mediation and act for you in the Employment Relations Authority or Employment Court. We can also assist with all related matters such as filing a Statement in Reply, counter-claims and briefs of evidence.

Charges

We offer you a range of pricing options, including a reasonable hourly rate or a fixed fee quote. The latter option may apply for taking a matter just to mediation for example with another quoted amount to take it to the Authority.
